WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING

"I reached out to Julia Cole to prep an amazing dinner for family and friends in town for the holidays.  And as expected, she did not disappoint.  Not only did she use meat I had harvested myself, but it was one of the most amazing and delicious ways I've ever seen game meat prepared.  The kind of meal that would turn a vegan into a carnivore.  Thanks again, Cole!"

Julia Cole Rosenbaum virtually grew up in the kitchen. Her family

owned restaurants and in later years ran a catering firm, so on

weekends the family often congregated around the stove, cooking

with two-year old Julia by their side. “The joy of cooking starts at

home” says the 23-year-old cook, who recently opened up her own

catering company, Julia Cole Styled Catering & Events. “Growing up

in that atmosphere gave me an unbelievable passion for food.”

After graduating from Carolina Christian School, Cole went to the

University of Alabama, but it wasn’t long before she gravitated back

to the food industry. Cole landed a job with the well known Jim and

Nick’s BBQ in Birmingham, AL running their flagship store. “I learned

so much, from the front of the house to the back,” says Julia Cole. “It

was a truly exciting and educating experience.”

Julia Cole was ready to take that experience back home to Charlotte, North Carolina when a series of major tornados struck Tuscaloosa, AL In April, 2011. She responded to the tragedy the only way she knew how: through food.  Within days Julia Cole brought in over 80,000 pounds of food donations and opened up a makeshift food shelter at the local Moose Lodge, announcing the menu du jour on the radio each day. “It was one of the most rewarding, humbling experiences that I’ll ever go through in my entire life.” Julia Cole said.

When she eventually moved back to Charlotte in December of 2011, Julia Cole decided to use her cooking and management skills to open her own catering company, Julia Cole Styled Catering & Events. Given her no-limits approach to life, it’s not surprising that there is no party she can’t handle. “Working with our team means impeccable presentation as much as great food,” she says. “We’ll create the tablescape, the centerpieces, the linens, everything to make your party beautiful and tasteful.”

Julia Cole’s personal favorites are the old southern classics…. with a twist. “I’m a big believer in incorporating all of the good comfort food I grew up eating, but I bring a young edge to it,” she says. “Everything from scratch and only the best ingredients - that’s my approach.” Take your average Mac and Cheese. Julia Cole likes to add smoked Gouda and bacon.  It’s an unbelievable crowd-pleasing blend of flavors.

Whether she’s hosting a full-pig roast, or catering a seven-course meal, Julia Cole believes in getting to know her client’s individual tastes before she even starts to compile a menu. “I want to know, ‘What’s your favorite food? What dish are you absolutely craving?’ This isn’t about me, it’s about them,” she explains. “Every client has a different sense of style; a different palate. I’m never going to do the same party twice.”

True to her word, Julia Cole keeps mixing it up. Her company has catered engagement parties, Christmas parties, baby showers, and rehearsal dinners, provided food for an event at Sloan Boutique, Cooked for world- renowned hunting lodges and been a personal chef. Julia Cole’s flair with table design and eye for detail also landed her a job designing a tablescape in Lisa Leek’s cookbook, “One Hundred Days of Real Food.” Next, she will do the food styling and set design for Carrie Vitt’s upcoming second cookbook, “Deliciously Organic.”
Julia Cole’s never ending ideas for theme parties has landed her featured spots on NBC with Sonja Gant and WBTV with Kristen Miranda, where she’s shared her ideas about everything from a St. Pattie’ Day feast to a Super Bowl spread. “I love any kind of party,” says Julia Cole, laughing. “I like to be around people who share my passion, and that’s entertain. I always say, food makes people happy.”
